Ten Important Health Tips For Your Senior Cat

Our mission is to provide you with amazing veterinary care when other vets in the area are closed. However, we still want to help you keep your pets happy and healthy for a long time. Today, we’re going to give you tips on keeping your senior cat in their best possible health as they get older. Caring for a senior cat is much different than taking care of kitten or even adult cat, it takes a lot of time, effort, and attention. We hope these tips will give you the guidance you need in taking extra special care of your best friend.

1. Your cat should see the veterinarian at least twice a year – be sure to keep them on a schedule and ask your veterinarian how often they want to see you.

2. Take the time to observe your pet’s health so you’re able to notice when something is not right.

3. To ease digestion, feed your cat several small meals per day instead of one large meal all at once.

4. Monitor your cat’s intake – obesity can cause serious health issues for your senior cat.

5. Make sure your cat exercises and plays to preserve muscle tone and to keep bones and joints strong.

6. Dental health is very important! Have their teeth cleaned by your veterinarian on a regular basis and brush their teeth at home daily.

7. As your cat becomes a senior cat, it’s still important to keep up with scheduled vaccinations.

8. Keep your senior cat’s bed and living area as clean as possible.

9. Senior cats are prone to inactivity – be sure to maintain their nails so they do not become too long.

10. Finally – be sure to give your senior cat a ton of love and affection as much as possible!

Follow these tips and your senior cat will thank you with more years of happiness and cuddles.
